Three Types of Commitment

Personal - a desire to stay married based on love and marital satisfaction.

Moral - a feeling to stay married based on your attitudes toward divorce and the contract you made with your partner.

Structural - a feeling of constraint

You stay married because you want to.

You stay married because you feel obligated.

You stay married because of the barriers you feel around you.

I want to marry this person because they smart, beautiful, and independent.

I should stay married because it wouldn't be fair for either of us.

I have to stay married or else my friends and family will be dissappointed in me.
