Violent vs. Non-Violent Crime

Here are two bar graphs that compare the amount of violent crimes commited versus non-violent crime. Violent crimes include forced rape, robbery, murder, manslaughter, and aggravated assault. Non-violent crimes include acts like arson, motor-vehicle theft, burglary, and larceny-theft.

The Verdict: Non-violent crimes are much more common than violent crimes. This is because simply these acts are easier to commit than its counterpart. California accounts for a large majority of crime in both cases, especially since there are 50 states total. California acounts for about 10% of violent and non-violent crime.
