"Sociology"

Hello to all readers and welcome to my new blog. All the posts I make will be about humans and their behavior and how it is influenced by various factors. But first I would like to take the time to talk a little bit about myself. So you can get to know the author of these posts. 

 

First off, my name is Erik Hernandez and I am currently 17 years old and in my last year of high school. You probably cannot tell that I am very nervous that I will soon be going to college. And that has always been the goal I've had since I first learned about college. Once I graduate from high school, I plan on going to some four year university in California since that is where I live. Some of my top schools include CSU and UC San Diego, UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, and some of the Ivy League schools would be nice to be accepted into as well. But my top college would most likely be UC Davis. Although there are rumors that say the school is dull and the party scene isn't great, the campus is beautiful and I think I'd enjoy the environment there. It is also fairly close to my family and it offers a ton of majors in the field that I'm interested in, Medicine. I'm still undecided where exactly in the field I'd like to specialize in, but that's something I hope my future self will figure out. After completing my years in college I would like to go on to medical school and further train myself so that I may pursue a career in this field.

 

The biggest thing that drives me toward this goal is my family. My family has not always been the most financially stable, but that has never stopped my parents from getting me or their other children an education. My parents have always taught me to give people the utmost respect and to always work hard. For that reason it's always been a dream of mine to get a career so that one day I can help my parents with whatever they need. Like buying them a house, that would be nice.

 

Now, to get to know me I will let you guys in on some of my likes and dislikes. Some of the things I enjoy doing on my free time is playing video games. It may not seem like it but I'm a huge nerd when it comes to video games. I haven't been playing as much as I would like but that's mainly because school and sports takes a lot of time out of my day and I feel like there's no time to play. But that's fine because I enjoy running as I am in cross country. I really enjoy any kinds of outdoors activities like swimming, running, walks, hiking, and camping. Some of my favorite subjects in school include math and science.

 

There's not too many things I dislike because I try and stay as positive as I can. I do have a few pet peeves so I can tell you a few of those. One thing that seems to annoy me is when people don't know how loud their voices should be. An example would be when I walk into school at 7:50 AM and I hear kids yelling so loud that they can be heard across campus. Another one would be when I'm trying to talk to someone and they daydream and don't pay attention to you. I don't like to repeat myself too much.
